Elopements & Intimate Weddings during Coronavirus

This is a season of uncertainty, so many what ifs, and unknowns. It is also a season of learning how to continue to move forward and get creative while holding on to your loved ones even tighter (from a 6ft distance). So many big events have been cancelled and postpones during this pandemic, but your wedding day does not have to be!

You CAN still marry your person during this novel Coronavirus

And you absolutely SHOULD.

One of the best solutions that a lot of couples have considered is having an elopement or an intimate wedding ceremony on your original 2020 wedding date and then postponing the party to 2021. This literally gives you the best of both worlds, because you get to experience the intimacy & authenticity of an elopement along with the excitement & joy of a big celebration. I mean, WOW. Talk about a silver lining.

Why is having an elopement or intimate wedding ceremony so amazing?

Reason #1 - Intimacy. Your wedding becomes more about YOUR relationship. Experiencing your wedding day as an Elopement or Small Ceremony allows for more intimate and intentional moments to unfold that you get to be totally present for. There are no distractions and you truly get to focus on being in the moment with your person.

Reason #2 - Experience. There’s an authentic feeling that develops when you take away the extra fluff from a wedding day. You get to plan an experience that reflects who you are and what you love (which is so fun!) It strips away the pressure and anxiety that many couples feel at some point in the planning process of a big wedding.

Reason #3 - Cost. Less financial stress. Every couple has their own budget to stick with. Less guests means more money can go towards things like the dress, travel, photo/video, flowers, and the experience. It is also a scary time for people financially, so your budget for your wedding day may look different now.

Reason #4 - Size. Because of Coronavirus, the social distancing order placed in most States does not allow large gatherings, so having an intimate wedding makes it possible for you to marry your person on your original wedding date. The show must go on!

BONUS Reason - Amazing Photos. Elopements & Intimate Weddings allow you the time and opportunity to truly be in your element — and they allow photographers like me the time and opportunity to capture real, beautifully genuine moments.

Okay Jennifer, I’m freaking sold! What’s the next step?

Planning your elopement or intimate wedding ceremony of course! Here’s some helpful tips to get you started.

  1. Create an Inspiration Board

  2. Determine a Budget

  3. Decide where you want to say your vows

  4. Reach out to your Vendors

  5. Think about wedding attire

  6. Make Your Announcements

My heart truly goes out to all those couples who have been affected by COVID-19 (which is basically everyone). But there is a way around this, a silver lining. Your wedding can still happen in the intimate and beautiful way that is totally about you two. Then guess what, you get to freaking party with all of your loved ones after this is all over (which I guarantee they will be SO ready to celebrate). Can’t get any better than that!
